Fluoride Treatments and Sealants

You can help to further protect your teeth by receiving fluoride treatments and sealants. While it is not a perfect defense, fluoride can reverse early decay, and increase your teeth’s defenses against plaque and bacteria. Fluoride treatments are especially beneficial for children with developing teeth.

What is a sealant? It is when an acrylic-like solution is applied to a tooth, which helps to protect it against bacteria that may cause decay. The process to apply a sealant is easy and painless since no freezing or drilling will need to be done. Much like fluoride treatments, a sealant is not 100% effective at preventing tooth decay, but it does provide a protective shield that lasts for many years.
